John H. Billion was born in Peoria, IL while his father was in school. He returned to Sioux Falls at the age of six and called it home ever since. John graduated from O'Gorman High School in 1984 and went on to St. John's University graduating in 1988. After working as a loan officer for a local bank, John attended law school at the University of South Dakota.
John received his juris doctorate in 1994 and worked as a Deputy State's Attorney for Pennington County. John then joined May & Johnson, P.C. in January of 1996. His practice areas cover a variety of civil litigation at the trial court and appellate levels, with emphasis on insurance/coverage litigation and insurance defense. John is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota, the South Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, Second Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and the International Society of Primerus Law Firms. John and his wife, Katy, have four children.
